Freshly to Open Meal Distribution Center in Howard County, Plans to Add 500 New Jobs

Freshly, a health-conscious food delivery service headquartered in New York City, is opening a meal distribution center in Savage and plans to add 500 new jobs by the end of 2018. Expected to open in fall 2017, the new 171,000 square-foot facility will be located at Bollman Place and serve as the company’s East Coast location for food preparation, cooking, assembly, and distribution. The company plans to invest $8 million for machinery and equipment.

“After searching the region we determined that Howard County would be an ideal location to expand our services to the East Coast,” said Michael Wystrach, CEO of Freshly. “After seeing all the food processing and distribution resources already located here, it made sense to me that we would want to be where we can get the freshest foods for our clients.”

Freshly’s meals are delivered fresh, never frozen, are free of gluten and processed sugars, and are made with all natural products. The company also values sustainability, as their products are shipped using recycled denim, recyclable containers and are portion controlled to help minimize food waste. The company raised $21 million in July 2016, which company officials said will help expand their service to all 50 states, as well as expand its menu and improve technology.
