Ellicott City Business Center Aims to Bring Main Street Back in Business

The newest tenant on Ellicott City’s Main Street after last July’s major flooding has a simple, catalytic mission: Bringing the old historic district back in business.

The Millworks Business Resource Center, a project led by the Howard County Economic Development Authority, officially opened Thursday and will act as a one-stop-shop for organizations to provide support for business and property owners for at least the next year.

The bright office merges space for organizations, previously far apart, into a single area. Business owners can also use workstations when the center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. Organizations like the Small Business Administration, Maryland Preservation and the Ellicott City Partnership will collaborate in the center and staff from the HCEDA will be on-site to assist with recovery.
