Hogan proposes mandatory paid sick leave for businesses

Gov. Larry Hogan plans to introduce a bill at the start of the upcoming legislative session requiring businesses with 50 or more employees to offer more paid sick leave.

The proposal also calls for part-time employees to be covered after a minimum of 30 working hours. The 50-employee threshold matches current federal standards under the Family Medical Leave Act and the Affordable Care Act.
