Alaska Airlines to Add San Diego Service from BWI in March 2017

Alaska Airlines announced November 16th that it would begin new transcontinental service between Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and San Diego, CA.  The new service is scheduled to begin on March 15, 2017.  BWI Marshall Airport will be the only east coast airport with service from Alaska Airlines to both San Diego and Los Angeles.

“Travelers from throughout the Washington-Baltimore region will benefit from this new service,” said Ricky Smith, Chief Executive Officer for BWI Marshall Airport.  “Alaska Airlines is offering more flight options and outstanding customer service for our passengers.  Added service from Alaska Airlines enhances the travel experience and value for our customers.”

Alaska Airlines first started service at BWI Marshall Airport in September 2014 with daily nonstop service to the airline’s hub in Seattle. Alaska added service between BWI Marshall and Los Angeles in September 2015.  The airline offers flights to markets throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Costa Rica.

BWI Marshall Airport continues to set records for passenger traffic.  2015 was a new alltime annual record with nearly 24 million passengers.  Strong growth has continued in 2016.  Fourteen-straight monthly passenger records have been set at BWI Marshall.
