AAWDC Announces $4.3M DOL Grant Award

AAWDC  is pleased to announce that we, in partnership with the Workforce Services Division of Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation, the Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland Workforce Development Board, the Susquehanna Workforce Network, and the Howard County Office of Workforce Development, have been awarded a DOL National Dislocated Worker Grant to serve transitioning service members, recently separated veterans, and military spouses.  The total grant award is $4.3M  for a two year grant period and will serve 730 participants.  We will be partnering with the US Chamber Foundation to offer serval Maryland cohorts of their successful Corporate Fellowship Program as well as partnering with the Maryland Department of Veteran Affairs to continue their Operation Hire initiative.  The initiative will use a demand-driven approach to create an effective employment and training delivery system that starts with the employer – identifying what their specific skill and educational needs are for potential hires.  Participants will be prepared for work after a life in the service in a way that directly correlates with industry needs.

Please be on the lookout for more details regarding this project as we implement this innovative initiative.  AAWDC is currently seeking a Project Director to oversee this initiative.  If you know of a veteran, military spouse, or veteran’s spouse who may be interested in this position, please see this Job Announcement.
