NSA construction project expected to impact traffic, environment, historic buildings

A major National Security Agency construction project on Fort George G. Meade could affect local traffic, environmental resources and two historic structures. The Department of Defense seeks public comment on a draft environmental impact statement for its East Campus Integration Program, which will integrate NSA campuses on the installation. The draft statement lays out a proposed action plan, alternatives and potential impacts.

The project, according to the draft statement, calls for the construction of approximately 2.9 million square feet of new operations and headquarters space in five buildings and the demolition of 1.9 million square feet of buildings and infrastructure.
