BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport Kicks Off 2016 By Announcing a New Low-Fare Airline

Allegiant Air to add Six Roundtrip Routes

Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport welcomed today’s announcement that Allegiant Air will begin offering roundtrip service to six markets in 2016: Asheville, North Carolina; Cincinnati, Ohio; Knoxville, Tennessee; Lexington, Kentucky; Savannah, Georgia; and Tulsa, Oklahoma.  The service from Cincinnati and Savannah will be year-round starting on April 29.  The Allegiant flights from Asheville, Knoxville, Lexington, and Tulsa will be seasonal, with service to those markets starting in May and early June.  Cincinnati is the only destination of the six that is currently served from BWI Marshall.

“We welcome Allegiant as an excellent addition to BWI Marshall Airport,” said Ricky Smith, Chief Executive Officer of BWI Marshall.  “Allegiant will help grow tourism in our market, while adding low airfares and new destinations for our local travelers.  We look forward to Allegiant’s success at BWI Marshall.”

Allegiant Air is the low-cost airline subsidiary of Allegiant Travel Company.  Based in Las Vegas, Allegiant links travelers in small cities across the U.S. to world-class destinations with low base airfares.  The company also provides other travel-related services, such as hotel rooms, rental cars, and attraction tickets.  Allegiant continues to grow rapidly, now offering low-fare service to over 100 markets nationwide, more than any other domestic low-cost carrier.

“Allegiant is excited to begin service at BWI Marshall Airport and offer passengers around the country easy and affordable access to the Baltimore area and Washington D.C.,” said Jude Bricker, Allegiant senior vice president of planning.  “We also look forward to entering the market and showing local travelers Allegiant’s unique brand of ultra-low-cost travel.”
