AAWDC Summer YouthWorks! Employer Outreach

We all remember our first job, our first paycheck, our first break. As an area business, you have the unique opportunity to offer a young adult a chance to experience the world of work, grow professionally, and contribute to your bottom line by partnering with the AAWDC Summer YouthWorks! (SYW!) Program.

This year, AAWDC SYW! is seeking to provide essential skills training to approximately 100 youth between the ages of 14 and 24 and place them in six-week meaningful summer work experiences. The work will start on July 1st and last through August 7th.  All youth will be required to interview for the positions, meaning that employers and the youth will have the opportunity to decide if the position will be a good fit for both parties.

In order for this to happen , AAWDC is seeking employer partners that represent our region’s high-growth industries as well as small businesses and other opportunities that will expose the youth to the world of work. Businesses can partner on this initiative by:

  • Hiring and hosting a workready summer workforce
  • Sponsoring a YouthWorks! work experience
  • Hosting a subsidized workready youth
  • Sharing expertise and inspiring the future workforce

If you are interested and/or want to learn more, please fill out the AAWDC SYW! online partner interest form. You can also visit the AAWDC YouthWorks! website to learn more about our program or email Shannon McGarry, Director of Youth Programs.
