Paid sick leave could be a tough pill to swallow for some Md. legislators

Paid sick leave for workers has been fetching a lot of attention lately, both at the state and national levels — but don’t expect a mandate to sail through the legislative process uncontested.

Anyone who listened to two Maryland legislators from opposite sides of the aisle speak in Baltimore Monday morning could see that.

One of those legislators, Baltimore City Democrat Sen. Catherine Pugh, the state Senate’s majority leader, has received national attention for backing paid sick leave requirements. The White House invited her to the State of the Union last week in part because of her support for the issue.
