Fed economist tells Maryland bankers he’s ‘guardedly optimistic’ about 2015

R. Andrew Bauer thinks there are reasons to be optimistic about the economy this year.

The senior regional economist for the Baltimore branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond is projecting gross domestic product growth between 2.5 percent and 3 percent in 2015. And while he admits there are plenty of factors that could derail that growth, he thinks current signs point toward the high end of that spectrum.

“I am guardedly optimistic about 2015,” Bauer said Friday. “If you had to ask me at this point, 3 percent seems like a reasonable number.”
