Ehrlich: ‘The business community needs to step up’ for Hogan

Former Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. believes the business community will have to play a big role in order for Larry Hogan to have success as governor.

“The business community needs to step up,” said Ehrlich, who was the last Republican before Hogan to win a gubernatorial election in heavily Democratic Maryland. “If they were quiet, they need to step it up. They have their guy who understands markets.”

Business leaders will be a core part of a coalition of voters and political players that will need to support Hogan if he is to find enough support to carry out an agenda, Ehrlich said. The conclusion follows Hogan’s campaign, which focused on a pro-business platform of economic development and tax cuts.
