23rd Annual Baltimore Washington Regional Procurement Fair to be held Nov. 19

by Therese Yewell

The Baltimore Washington Corridor Chamber (BWCC) will host its 23rd Annual Procurement Fair on Wednesday, November 19 from 8 AM to 12 PM at Martins Crosswinds in Greenbelt, MD. The Fair connects procurement specialists from local, state and federal agencies, as well as the defense and construction industries, with small, medium and minority business interested in learning about contracting opportunities.

“The Fair facilitates numerous dynamic networking opportunities between procurement specialists and prime contractors and businesses seeking contracting work,” said Walt Townshend, President and CEO of BWCC. “It is also a place where those businesses can learn from the specialists what is required to bid on a contract.”

The focus of the Fair will be in five areas: Federal agencies, state and local government, the defense industry, the construction industry and prime contractors. There will also be breakout sessions featuring interactive expert panels where attendees will learn the ABCs of winning a contract. The three panels will cover state government and the defense and construction industries.

This year’s fair will also feature match-making sessions where early registrants will meet one-on-one with agency representatives and prime contractors to discuss pending procurement opportunities. Additionally, businesses will be able to take advantage of business-to-business opportunities by networking with other participants.

“Attendees at previous procurement fairs have said that it would take a year of emails, phone calls and meetings to make the connections with procurement decision makers that they are able to accomplish in a single morning,” Walt said.
