Stephen Fuller paints Greater Washington’s economy with a dark brush

George Mason University economist Stephen Fuller says the Greater Washington economy has been “damaged more deeply” than previously thought by ongoing political wrangling and cuts to the federal budget, as well as an unusually harsh winter.

“We started out this year worse than we thought and have performed worse than expected,” Fuller said in advance of delivering the Center for Regional Analysis’ mid-year review and early forecast for 2015 on Aug. 20 at the Capital One Financial Corp. headquarters in McLean. “It’s more negative than people realize.”
