BWI is still one of the cheapest airports in the U.S. to fly out of

Airfares on flights out of Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport still cost much less than the national average.

The average domestic fare at BWI is $329.70, down 0.5 percent from a year ago, according to the Department of Transportation’s quarterly report on domestic airfares. Only 16 of the nation’s 100 largest airports have cheaper average airfare than BWI.

Passengers traveling through BWI are getting better deals than those using Washington, D.C., airports. The average airfare at Dulles in the first quarter cost $499.05, second-highest among the 100 largest airports — yet, still down 0.3 percent from a year earlier.
