Company expanding, leaving Bowie theater

“The Tempest” is a fitting play for the Annapolis Shakespeare Co. this month.

There’s a storm of activity surrounding the troupe, which is leaving its home away from home at the Bowie Playhouse after three years.

Instead, it has a new partnership with St. John’s College in Annapolis and the search for larger headquarters in the state capital. “The Tempest,” which opens Friday runs through Aug. 17, will be the last in Bowie.

“We see ourselves as becoming a full repertory company,’ said Sally Boyett, founding artistic director.
