Dimensions Healthcare was once down to one day of cash. Now it’s trying to take back the market

To say Neil Moore didn’t know what he was getting into when he first joined Dimensions Health System’s leadership team eight years ago would be a gross understatement.

Within three weeks of becoming chief financial officer at the Prince George’s health system, he learned they were considering bankruptcy. The hospital system was down to one day’s worth of cash. A state commission convened to find a buyer for the hospitals, but gave up after more than two years of striking out.

Moore thought about fleeing back to New York where he’d come many times during what he now calls the “dark days” of Dimensions. “As I look back, I say, ‘Wow, I’m still here’,” Moore said.
